Hallyards Castle designation: A volunteer submitted a designation request for Hallyards Castle (which sits on the development site and would be completely removed if the data centre goes ahead) to Historic Environment Scotland. A response was received on 1st July stating they will progress to carrying out an assessment of the site. Click here to see the letter from Historic Environment Scotland.

About Cato Data Centre
Cato Data Centre is a proposed monster 600MW data centre located adjacent to the village of Auchtertool, on what is currently farmland and the ruins of Hallyards Castle.
To put this into perspective, the largest data centre in the world currently is the Citadel data centre campus in Nevada USA, at 650MW. A development of this scale has no place next to Auchtertool.
