Auchtertool Village Hub/Pub Update

The changes in The Tiel/Kiwi Tavern are clear for all to see and many people have expressed their delight at the developments so far. Gone is the weathered, peeling paint and the tree growing out of the chimney!  In their place - bright new paint and a completely new start for our once lively and loved village pub.

Thanks to our fantastic team of volunteers, our Hub Heroes, the outside has been cleaned and repainted and now the interior has been completely stripped out and given an extensive clean. The whole building is in much better shape now than when we got it.  This was a mammoth task and it has taken over 400 hours to get to this point and the hard work of our dedicated volunteers has saved many, many thousands of pounds.

While the clean up has been going on the Trustees of Auchtertool Community Trust (ACT) have been researching and sourcing funding for the next steps in getting our new Village Hub up and running.

As the project moves forward there will be plenty of opportunites to volunteer, for both general and more specialised areas (joiners, plumbers etc). With the clean up and strip out of the interior complete we are now looking for people who can help put up stud walls.  Are you a joiner?  Do you know what you’re doing with CLS?

We’re excited to announce that in January we are launching a dedicated Facebook page where you will find updates, photographs and a wide range of volunteering opportunities and ways to become involved.

The Facebook page will be linked to the Auchtertool website, and updates will also be  shared at the monthly Drop-in Café and through some of the groups that use the village hall.  By doing this we hope that we are reaching as many of our village residents, and beyond, as possible.
